What are some of the good/bad experiances you've had with different drives and media. Im looking into getting a drive to back up some of the imprtant files I have.

Ive heard that NEC drives work well. Also heard TDK are a good brand as far as media goes.

I build computers and I have used just about all the different brands of drives...I like Liteon because you can get a combo drive WITH software bundled in cheap and they seem to hold up as good as any..
