HELP!!!!!! I have been unable to update in quite some time
I have been going back and forth w/ microsoft techs via the microsoft site but they have been unable to help me...

The last contact i had was to see if my BITS was running and I get an error that says it is unable to find the file...

When I go to Windows updat and click on express, I am told that I must first install some tools
I then get an error saying that the Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool (KB892130)
failed to install
I purchased this computer from Dell w/ XP already on it...

while waiting for a reply from here i inserted my Reinstallation CD (Microsoft Windows XP home edition including service pack 1a) with the thought that I may have to reinstall but thought I would browse around to see if there was something else I could try first,....

when prompted on what i wanted to do I went to Perform Additional Tasks
I then clicked on Install Net Framework

this gave me service pack2

after install i was prompted to restart

I then thought I would give it a whirl and went back to windows update

This time I was able to download and install the Validation tool

Immediately afterwards it took me to where I had always had the problems before and listed all the updates I needed- (27)

at this very moment it is actually downloading and installing them...

I have not gotten this far since last year...

I then went back in to BITS and found that it too has started-

so far so good
