Hi voa,

Visual Basic is easy to start programming with, so that is certainly a good choice, however only if you are willing to invest money buying the package. I started on Visual Basic 6.0 too :whistling:

Also, if you don't want to give a single cent, try http://www.python.org. Python is a free but powerful, yet simple programming language to learn. When I say simple, it is all relative, but for sure it is easier to learn than C, Java etc.

The choice is yours

Hey!
Do you want help in learning any specific language or just generally you want to get started on programming?
I'm pretty new too and know the basics of VB 6.0 and C++. I generally prefer VB beacuse the interface is better looking ! (Profound reason, huh? :whistling: )
If you want I can give you links to sites and tutorial or email you notes for both.
Good luck

Python is a great first programming language to learn and it was my first! :-) I would recommend Python because its free and if you find out that you don't like it then you wouldn't have invested alot of money into the more expensive things like VB.

Yes, There are a ton of tutorials out there on the language and the newer version comes with a manual which has a tutorial in it already.

what kinds of programs can you make with it?

Many. I always use Python for its mathematics functions.

Or you could learn binary...using just 2 numbers

just kidding...

I started with Visual Basic, then moved to C++, i bought the C++ for dummies and the VB for dummies book...but i have to say...the c++ one was helpful, whereas the vb wasn't since i had already learned the topics discussed in it by myself...nowadays the internet is an excellent source for tutorials, you just have to take the time to read them :help:

good luck :whistling:

Just read the few simple ones and try it out. In programming it is experience that counts. Get the basics running in your blood and then move on to greater projects

My favourite is the fraction simplifier: When you enter let's say 12/9 it converts it to 4/3 :whistling:
