LCD screen get dim

When I turn on my IBM 31/A laptop, the sceen comes on for just one or tow seconds and then display becomes very dim, and when I touch the screen shut off switch on the "SUB CARD / PC SLOTS" the screen becomes normal just for a few seconds but some times on for an hour or two. I have replaced the inverter and the sub card/pc slot with no success. Please help, thanks.
