Hi. I hope someone here can help. Has anyone ever seen a program that keeps reinstalling even after you delete it. When I look at the Taskmaster it is there but it keeps moving up and down the list so you cant stop the process. It starts and stops on its own. Its called ycaaci.exe and also ybaabi.exe and yiggiu.exe

Here is here is my hijack this log. I see it listed in the log under global startups and it's also in the registry but when I checked it for fixing and then rescanned it was still there.
Any help will be appreciated. My next step is to reformat my hard drive.

Hi bas67,

That is quite common actually. :tazz: That particular infection is called Narrator. But don't worry - we'll get it out. ;)

First thing to do is to get the latest version of Hijackthis:
http://www.atribune..../HijackThis.exe

Replace your current copy with this newer version. We'll use the newer version later.

Run a free online virus scan from here:
http://housecall.tre.../start_corp.asp

Let me know if it finds anything. Whatever it finds, delete it.

Now lets get rid of Narrator....
  • Download FindIt NT-2K-XP.
  • Unzip the contents of FindIt NT-2K-XP.zip to a convenient location.
  • Navigate to the FindIt NT-2K-XP directory.
  • Double-click on FindNarrator.bat and wait for it to run.
  • It should open a Notepad window with the FindNarrator log.
  • Post the contents of FindNarrator.txt into your next post.

  • Double-click on KillBox.exe.
  • Click "Replace on Reboot" and check the "Use Dummy" box.
  • Paste this file into the top "Full Path of File to Delete" box.
    • C:\WINDOWS\system32\qkuuka.dat
  • Click the "Delete File" button which looks like a stop sign.
  • Click "Yes" at the Replace on Reboot prompt.
  • Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.
  • Repeat steps 4-8 above for these files:
    • C:\WINDOWS\system32\gqaaqw.dll
    • C:\WINDOWS\system32\gquuqw.dll
    • C:\WINDOWS\system32\pauuaz.exe
    • C:\WINDOWS\system32\qnrrno.dll
    • C:\WINDOWS\system32\lnqi9.exe
    • C:\WINDOWS\system32\ln_reco.exe
    • C:\WINDOWS\system32\ntdll.dll
    • C:\WINDOWS\system32\randreco.exe
    • C:\WINDOWS\system32\restsrv32a.sys
    • C:\WINDOWS\system32\stmtreco.exe
    • C:\WINDOWS\system32\ybaabi.exe
    • C:\WINDOWS\system32\ycaaci.exe
    • C:\WINDOWS\system32\ycaaci.exe.tmp
  • Click "Replace on Reboot" and check the "Use Dummy" box.
  • Paste this file into the top "Full Path of File to Delete" box.
    • C:\DOCUME~1\ALLUSE~1\STARTM~1\Programs\Startup\yiggiu.exe
  • Click the "Delete File" button which looks like a stop sign.
  • Click "Yes" at the Replace on Reboot prompt.
  • Click "Yes" at the Pending Operations prompt to restart your computer.
  • If you get a "PendingFileRenameOperations Registry Data has been Removed by External Process!" message then just restart manually.
  • Once the computer has been restarted, double-click on FindNarrator.bat and post the new FindNarrator.txt. Also run hijackthis again and post a new hijackthis log.

Hi bas67,

I think I got it. There was a registry key that wouldn't delete.

But I didn't ask you to delete any registry entries. :tazz: ;) Which registry entry did you delete?

Go here to run a free online virus scan, just to be sure everything is gone:
http://housecall.tre.../start_corp.asp

Delete whatever it finds.

Run hijackthis again, click Scan. Check the boxes next to these entries. Then close all windows except HijackThis. Tell HijackThis to 'Fix checked'.

O23 - Service: .NET Framework Service - Unknown - C:\WINDOWS\svchost.exe (file missing)

Reboot your computer, run hijackthis again and post a new log.
