I have placed three different PCI slot Dynex sound cards (5.1 and 7.1) in my Dell 4600. The sound only comes out of the onboard sound card which is connected to the motherboard. I have deleted and reloaded the drivers for each sound card. I have come to the conclusion that I must need to connect my Dynex sound card(s) to the motherboard somehow. Any ideas?

These sound cards have an optical (digital) out to connect to my optical in on my home theater system. My goal is to get the sound from the computer to my Samsung home theater system. It worked when I had a Dell 8300 with the dynex sound card. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for advice.

Hi and welcome to Geeks to Go. You need to go into the bios and disable the on board audio. Also make sure your speakers are connected to the PCI sound card.
