Hi! My week of massive malware invasion seems to be over ~ have been clean for several hours since deleting last AdAware find of a 'Version tracker [1] cookie object and unistalling Norton 2003. Could there be a connection?

My log looks OK but just want to check a couple of things to make sure there's no way anything can creep in again:
1. 02 BHO ~ AcroIEH Adobe etc ~ why is there a 'file missing' Should I Fix it?
2. 02-BHO (no name) Spybot~1\SDHELPER ~ is this legit?
3. 04 - HKLM RunOnce ~ what is this?

Also, when running an intensive TSD scan, it metioned that I had no exe. files for netstat, drwatson,drwatson32, rundll32, taskman, taskmgr, winlogon or regedt32. Have deleted so much suspect stuff in last few days, just want to make sure I didn't wipe out anything vital.

Thanks for all help.

Hi kateofdorset,

My name is Trevuren and welcome to the Geeks2GoForums.

You are currently running HijackThis from a folder that is not its own. HJT needs to be in a folder of it's own so that the program itself and the backups it creates aren't deleted by accident. Having the backups could be VITAL to restoring your system if something went wrong in the FIX process!

1. Please go to your 'My Documents' folder, right-click and select 'New > Folder' then name the folder HijackThis.

2. Copy and paste HijackThis.exe to the new folder.

3. Close ALL windows except HJT

4. SCAN with HJT

5. POST a new log into this thread.

DO NOT MAKE ANY CHANGES OR CLICK "FIX CHECKED" UNTIL WE CHECK THE LOG, AS MOST OF THE FILES ARE LEGIT AND VITAL TO YOUR COMPUTER'S HEALTH

Regards,

Trevuren
