Hi Everyone, hope you can help me.

For about 2 weeks now our computer turns itself off without any reason or warning. When it is off, the light of the key "num lock" is still on so is our optical mouse. When we turn it on again it needs to scan al disks without giving any errors, once back to the desktop it seems fine again. This happens once every 2 hours. It can also happen that our computer turns itself on, this only happens for about 3 sec and it is off again!!
We also have noticed that the date and time are changed when we turn our computer on in the morning, we think it is stuck on the time when we turned it of the night before.

We have formatted the hard drive because we thought it might be a virus, but that did not help.

Can anyone help us??

hi guys, hmm that is strange..could be software/HW issue, however, i know there some malware out there that could possibly cause this.. have you tried heading over to the malware section of the forum and postinf an HJT log for 1 of our experts to review? if not and you want to.. go here http://www.geekstogo..._Log-t2852.html & follow all those steps outlined then post an hjt log and once getting an all clear from malware expert and problem still persists come on back over here:)

got a second computer? I would try to test with a second power supply, which you could borrow temporarily from a second PC

That might explain the sudden turning off, but not the sudden on...unless the power supply is shutting off during shutdown, but shutdown does not complete.
