I also have the same problem as others. I cannot open my program files from the start menu or desktop. When I try to open them, the computer freezes and the error DrWatson Debugger appears. I cannot even open the Search program to search for it. What can I do?

PLEASE HELP!!! Any help would be very much appreciated.

Hi tickledpink182

Let us take a closer look at what is running on your PC. We'll need you to use a free diagnostic tool (HiJackThis) and post a log back here with the results.

Click the HijackThis Guide in my signature, download it and follow the instructions in the guide.

Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, DO NOT delete or modify anything yet! Someone will be along to tell you what steps to take after you post the contents of the scan results.

Hi tickledpink182

Welcome to geekstogo ;)

Please download all these programs to your desktop.

Please read through the instructions before you start (you may want to print this out).

Please download and install these programs - don't run them yet!!

Please download and unzip
About:Buster to a folder. Inside the folder is a readme file that has instructions on the use of the program.
AboutBuster MUST be updated before you use it.
Start AboutBuster, click the update button, check for update, drag the box to the side and hit download updates, close the box . Don't run it yet.

Please download and install AD-Aware.
Check Here on how setup and use it - please make sure you update it first.

Download and unzip cwsserviceremove to your desktop. use either link below:
cwsserviceremove

cwsserviceremove.zip

Download CW-Shredder at the link below:
CWShredder

Open Windows Explorer & Go to Tools > Folder Options. Click on the View tab and make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is checked.
Also uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" and untick "hide extensions for known file types" . Now click "Apply to all folders"
Click "Apply" then "OK"

For anyone using Windows XP, 'Search' will not automatically show hidden files even if your folder options settings are set to do that. Do this so you can see hidden files and folders - Click here to download xphidden.zip. Extract xphidden.reg from the zip file and save it to the desktop. When done, double-click the xphidden.reg and when asked to merge say yes.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Here's the fix:

Important Step
1. Go to Start->Run and type "Services.msc" (without quotes) then hit Ok
Scroll down and find the service called:

No service to remove

When you find it, double-click on it. In the next window that opens, click the Stop button, then click on properties and under the General Tab, change the Startup Type to Disabled. Now hit Apply and then Ok and close any open windows. If you dont find this service listed go ahead with the next steps.

Reboot into Safe Mode: Click here if you don't know how to do this.

CLOSE ALL WINDOWS AND BROWSERS Scan with HijackThis and put checks next to all the following,

Oh one more thing, what will happen now to DrWatson Postmortem Debugger? Should I delete it? Do I still have to do something else even if I can now open folders and program files from the desktop or Start Menu?

THANKS ONCE AGAIN! :tazz:

Hi tickledpink182

Please don't Delete Dr watson it is part off your Windows system

Here's the fix:

Important Step
1. Go to Start->Run and type "Services.msc" (without quotes) then hit Ok
Scroll down and find the service called:

Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Helper ( 6Q_'8) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\atlud32.exe

When you find it, double-click on it. In the next window that opens, click the Stop button, then click on properties and under the General Tab, change the Startup Type to Disabled. Now hit Apply and then Ok and close any open windows. If you dont find this service listed go ahead with the next steps.

1. Please use Windows Add Remove Program Files and uninstall the following Program.
C:\PROGRAM FILES\Newdotnet\Newdotnet.DLL,NewDotNetStartup -s
C:\Program Files\LimeWire\LimeWire
2. Reboot into Safe Mode: Click here if you don't know how to do this.

3. Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete once -> Click Task Manager -> Click the Processes tab -> Double-click the Image Name column header to alphabetically sort the processes -> Scroll through the list and look for:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\javarm.exe <--Delete this file
ALCXMNTR.EXE <--Delete this file
C:\WINDOWS\system32\javaph.exe <--Delete this file
C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\APPLIC~1\ITCHPU~1\soft name defy.exe <--Delete this file
C:\WINDOWS\system32\atlud32.exe <--Delete this file

If you find the files, click on them, and then click End Process -> Exit the Task Manager.

4. CLOSE ALL WINDOWS AND BROWSERS Scan with HijackThis and put checks next to all the following,

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = about:blank
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [New.net Startup] rundll32 C:\PROGRA~1\NEWDOT~1\NEWDOT~1.DLL,NewDotNetStartup -s
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [javarm.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\javarm.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AlcxMonitor] ALCXMNTR.EXE
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MyWebSearch Email Plugin] C:\PROGRA~1\MYWEBS~1\bar\1.bin\mwsoemon.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [javaph.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\javaph.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [WayBlah] C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\APPLIC~1\ITCHPU~1\soft name defy.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MyWebSearch Email Plugin] C:\PROGRA~1\MYWEBS~1\bar\1.bin\mwsoemon.exe
O4 - Startup: MyWebSearch Email Plugin.lnk = C:\Program Files\MyWebSearch\bar\1.bin\MWSOEMON.EXE
O4 - Global Startup: LimeWire 4.2.6.lnk = C:\Program Files\LimeWire\LimeWire 4.2.6\LimeWire.exe
O4 - Global Startup: MyWebSearch Email Plugin.lnk = C:\Program Files\MyWebSearch\bar\1.bin\MWSOEMON.EXE
O16 - DPF: {1D4DB7D2-6EC9-47A3-BD87-1E41684E07BB} - http://ak.imgfarm.co...up1.0.0.8-2.cab
O16 - DPF: {DE435CAE-6873-11D2-A750-00A024BB782C} (AppKeys Class) - https://pchost.ccp.c...ocs/appkeys.cab
O23 - Service: Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Helper ( 6Q_'8) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\atlud32.exe" /s (file missing)

Then click on "Fix Checked"

5. Using Windows Explorer delete the following files if present:
If you get an error when deleting a file. Right click on the file and check to see if the read only attribute is checked. if it is uncheck it and try again.

C:\PROGRA~1\MYWEBS~1\bar\1.bin\mwsoemon.exe <--Delete the whole folder
C:\PROGRA~1\THEWEA~1\The Weather Channel.exe <--Delete the whole folder
C:\Program Files\LimeWire\LimeWire 4.2.6\LimeWire.exe <--Delete the whole folder
C:\WINDOWS\System32\P2P Networking\P2P Networking.exe <--Delete the whole folder
C:\WINDOWS\system32\javarm.exe <--Delete this file
ALCXMNTR.EXE <--Delete this file
C:\WINDOWS\system32\javaph.exe <--Delete this file
C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\APPLIC~1\ITCHPU~1\soft name defy.exe <--Delete this file
C:\WINDOWS\system32\atlud32.exe <--Delete this file

(and any other files with the same name that end in .dll, .exe or .dat, you may find them right next to each other, example - appsw.exe, appsw.dll, appsw.dat)

6. Run AboutBuster . This will scan your computer for the bad files and delete them. Save the report (copy and paste into notepad or wordpad and save as a .txt file) and post a copy back here when you are done with all the steps.

7. Scan with AdAware and let it remove any bad files found.

8. Clean out temporary and TIF files. Go to Start > Run and type in the box: cleanmgr. Let it scan your system for files to remove. Make sure these 3 are checked and then press *ok* to remove:

Download the ccleaner
I use this Program and is setup like this all boxs are check.

Clean out all temp files in Mozilla, Internet Explorer.
Internet Explorer: Tools/ Internet Options/ General/ Temporary internet files/ Delete Files (NOTE, that this may take very long!). You can also set the memory limit to about 80 MB at the Settings.

Mozilla: Edit/ Options/ Extended/ Cache/ Clear Cache

9. Double click on the cwsserviceremove and when asked to merge say yes.

10. Run CW-Shredder - Hit the FIX button - let it run and fix what it finds.

11. Reboot into normal mode.

12. Download the Hoster from here Press "Restore Original Hosts. and press "OK". Exit Program.

13. Download and run this online virus scan:
http://housecall.tre.../start_corp.asp
Make sure you check "AutoClean"

Please reboot and post a fresh HijackThis.log to see how we did.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\atlud32.exe

4. Click the "Delete File" button which looks like a stop sign.
5. Click "Yes" at the Replace on Reboot prompt.

And reboot as normal afterwards.

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log in this same topic, and let us know how your system's working. ;)

[SIZE=1] Just when I was about to copy my log so I can paste it here, the error DrWatson appeared again. I did not want to restart or log off, so I just ended the DrWatson process on the Task Manager so I can still open folders or programs. Unfortunately, there has been no improvement lately. I don't get it, it worked really fine yesterday, and everything was back to normal. But then when I opened my computer this morning, I couldn't open any folder or programs again. :-( Why does that happen? Anyhoo, here's my latest log:

Hi tickledpink182

Welcome to geekstogo

Please use Windows Add Remove Program Files, uninstall the following Program

If you have any off the programs from the following list there is no need to down load them again.
Follow the fix if you have a problem with any of the step just bypass that step and continue with the next step.

C:\Program Files\Newdotnet\Newdotnet

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Here's the fix:

Important Step
1. Go to Start->Run and type "Services.msc" (without quotes) then hit Ok
Scroll down and find the service called:

Network Security Service ( 6Q '8) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\atlud32.exe

When you find it, double-click on it. In the next window that opens, click the Stop button, then click on properties and under the General Tab, change the Startup Type to Disabled. Now hit Apply and then Ok and close any open windows. If you dont find this service listed go ahead with the next steps.

C:\WINDOWS\dogdi.dll
C:\WINDOWS\mfcag32.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\d3hg.exe
