I installed STOPzilla on my computer, but soon realized that it comes with adware.

I try to remove it and get the following error:

Error 1316. A network error occured while attempting to read from the file:
C:\WINDOWS\Installer\SZProBASE.msi

I also ran a scan to see of my network was working properly, and got the results in the file attached below.

Some passed, some failed.

Help would be appreciated.

See if you get the stopzilla error after the reboot, you should be able to delete the file, leave it in the recycle bin until you have rebooted a few times to check the PC will run without it

If you have specific network errors you will get an informed response in the networking forum

Still cant remove STOPzilla

I still get the error 1316.

I think the main problem might be the .dll files.

Do you require a hijack report?

Items in blue which are underlined are clickable to give more information about the process

Click start then run, type prefetch then press enter, click edit then select all, right click any file then click delete, confirm delete

Click start, all programmes, accessories, system tools to run disc clean up, then from system tools, run disc defragmenter.

Click start then run, type sfc /scannow then press enter, you need the XP CD and Windows File Protection will show a blue onscreen progress bar, when the bar goes, reboot

Download and install Tune Up 2006 Trial

Run Tune Up Disc Clean Up

Run Tune Up Registry Clean Up

Click Optimize and Improve to run Reg Defrag, which will take a few minutes and need a reboot. You should disable the antivirus programme to run this and check it is running after the reboot

After the reboot, click optimize then system optimizer to optimize the computer, select computer with an internet connection from the drop down menu, this also requires a reboot

After the reboot, click optimize then system optimizer to accelerate downloads, select the speed just above your actual connection speed, this requires a reboot

After the reboot, click optimize then system optimizer to run system advisor

i had the same error as you and i used sunbelt's vipre antivirus. it has a secure file deleter it erases all data. but malware bytes can too. so google malware bytes anti-malware download, install, open go to more tools and use the fileASSASSIN and kill the files or download and install vipre find and activate the secure file eraser. right click the folder and hit securely erase selected files and folders it will delete it

I have Vipre. Got it after the kids crashed the computer again... also after trying stopzilla. Vipre wont touch the files I have left from stopzilla. I really know very little about computers but with four kids who think they know everything and what is safe and what isn't, I figure I better figure it out or go with out. I have thrown out computers that could probably been saved and saved what probably could have been thrown out. Stopzilla is frustrating me, making my computer run VERY slow. Generally--if it's mine I figure I should control what is happening with my computer and this 'antivirus' has taken my ability to change, remove, or disable the real problem. I don't have money to spend on tools to do it for me so I would love a walk through on how to get this off my computer for good and complete. This is what I have left: SGSvc.dll, SZBrCom.dll, SZCfgSvc.dll, SZClientCom.dll, SZClLic.dll, SZEtrSS.dll, SZHistory.dll, SZJustice.dll, SZQrntn.dll, SZSchSvc.dll, SZScnSvc.dll, SZSnsrSv.dll, SZSvcHost.dllSZTrgSSS.dll, SZUniTrg.dll, SZServer
I have tried to erase all of them, I have tried individually, I can't even terminate them in Task Manager. I also can't run them, I get no response. Like I said I know very little...talk to me, help me out. Thanks
