I recently upgraded my motherboard, memory and graphics card. Everything works fine -- computer starts up, boots into Windows XP, all drives show up and work properly... everything is nice and smooth. Except for one thing -- the red LED on the front panel of the case, which indicates that the hard drive is running, remains constantly on.

I have tried re-plugging the hard disk LED connector in the proper place on the motherboard, and double-checked with the motherboard's manual to make sure I was doing it correctly.

The hard disk LED still remains constantly lit. Any ideas, please?

Reverse the IDE LED light plug on the motherboard. Example: If the black wire was on the right side of the two prongs for the ide led, flip it over so the black wire is now on the left side.

Is the Power LED constantly on or does it behave like the hard drive LED should, aka it's blinking and then turns off, then turns back on and blinks when you open a program?
