I just bought HL2 : Episode One and installed it...I double clicked the game and ran it..before the menu comes I get this error


Runtime Error!
Program: C:/Program Files/Steam/hl2.exe

This application has requestied the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.

Any solution to this?

First, try this:
Right-click on Half-Life 2 Episode 1 in Steam
Select Properties
Select Delete Local Content
Then reinstall the game.

If this doesn't work, I hope someone else comes up with a solution (it worked for me, and my specs!)

If that doesnt work contact the valve support you do pay for it and they know ALOT more about it than we do and will get back to you quicker than we can as well.
