I was hoping someone could help me increase my internet connection speed. I want to have the
download and upload speeds as fast as possible. If you need any info to help just ask.

I would not be able to give you instructions right off the top of my head, but depending on certain factors, you might be able to optimize certain settings to see if you gain any increase. Firefox allows you to edit certain files. There are some Registry entries to add/change. If on dial up, there are some Accelerator apps (not recommended).

Whatever connection service you have may be a limiting factor in its bandwidth or the package you paid for.

Possibly give some of this information of what service you are using, PC specs, modem (if any) make/model, whether using wireless...things like that. I know I missed some, but the Geeks with the experience should be by to help you as much as you can be helped. If you are experiencing very slow UL/DL speeds, there may be a solution. If you are running pretty much the average for your service, then I doubt it.

Thanks for the reply. I am currently using optimum online as my ISP. My computer is connected to my router which is connected to the cable modem. I recently took a couple of speed tests and these were ny results:

1)Your download speed : 2252 kbps or 281.5 KB/sec.
Your upload speed : 97 kbps or 12.2 KB/sec.

Those are my average stats.
Then the site compared my speeds with speeds of others using the same ISP. It reported that my speeds were
about 70% worse than the average optimum online user. Also my upload speed was 90% worse than the average. It was a bit discouraging to say the least.

If any other info is needed just ask.

U should have 90% or better of your ISP's advertised speeds. Try Cablenut 4.08

Test your connection speeds at:

When I test my connection speed I get around 60% worse than average download and 10% better than average upload.
