just called Staples , its only 2 blocks away and they have a card I can use. They said if that wasnt my trouble I can return it. Might go this route unless you advise otherwise.

THANK YOU very much Keith. The New (and better) :whistling: video card seems to have fixed the problem . Went with an fx 6200 with 256 mb .

UH OH this could be bad. Even with new vid card, been using comp ever since installation, screen just went black on me momentarily :whistling:. WTH

Did you install the drivers from the software CD with the card or download them?

See how it goes, if it blacks out frequently, look at using the latest ones
from the Nvidia site

I went ahead and DLed the latest from Nvidia. Surprisingly enough, it identified SOME of the files on the CD as newer than those on the website! I kept all the newest files. I have used this comp now for like 12 hours, not a glitch to be seen.

Certainly with the card having the corrosion and then having enlarged connections would have contributed

Hopefully it will continue to run smoothly
