I have a cable modem connected directly through the computer and every few mins my connection with just freeze and come back on in a few mins. Whenever it drops I click on the LAN status and press repair. Then it comes back right away. I have to keep doing this every few mins if I want my internet connection up right away.If anyone knows anything I can do to prevent my connection from dropping every 2 min please let me know. Thanks

After switching to cable interent i had great speed. A couple months later My connection would drop out and i would have to go thru a routine of shutting power off the modem, router and computer and turning back on to get the connection back. The cable company ran me around doing this for months until i asked them to discontinue my cable internet because i knew the problem was not my computer. They finally sent out a good troubleshooter that found the connections on the pole were bad. There was also a bad motherboard in the cabel box on the pole. As soon as that was fixed and since then i have never had a problem with my interent.

Just food for thought.

Thanks very much for the info. I called the cable company and they ran a test and found packets missing when communicating. There is a problem before it reaches my computer. They are sending a someone to look at the problem. There might be a problem in the cable wire coming into my house. Hopefully they figure it out, its so anyoning to keep shuting off the modem and putting it back on just to stay online.
