Booting in to DOS with winME

Can anybody tell me how to boot into Dos from Win ME. I have been told It's the best way to do a virus scan and there is a version of DOS with ME . I want to do a virus scan with AVG in DOS, I have done a virus scan from the command prompt but it came up clean, I want to do a scan before Me boots up.
