Mail merge broken links after move

I've a large amount of of MS Word documents mail merged to an Excel database file sitting on my desktop right now which will have to be moved on to a network drive that I've no access to (by a colleague). The problem is there doesn't seem to be a way to do the mail merging with a "relative" link so it will be broken after the move. Getting access to the drive or having somebody else clean up the links after me are both out. Any bright ideas?
