when i'm watching a broadcast on quicktime the video sometimes freezes while the audio still continues with no problems. in the quicktime preferences i have the streaming set midway on the play bar. the range bar ranges from immediately to short delay, its set in the middle.

If you have an older machine and are watching a large h.264 video, your mac may just not be able to keep up with the frame rate of the video...

(are you streaming the video)

I have a 17-inch power book with 2GB of ram, I receive a live broadcast with video cam, sometimes the video cam may freeze, but the audio continues fine. I thought the problem would have to do with my DSL line or my settings in QuickTime, so I tried setting my video streaming in a delay setting with no luck, and then in a play immediately setting, but still my video sometimes freezes. I’m trying to find out if it's due to a setting that I can control or is it something in my ISP. Thank you for your reply.

If the video is at a set bitrate and you have a slow dsl line that could be your problem the video just can't keep up. this happens to me sometimes when i try to stream apple events this happens to me about half way through for about 30 sec. try seeing if you can get a smaller stream (some places have slow, medium, fast speed streams)

good luck
