Hello,

I hope someone isnt too busy so they can read over this, and offer me some advice =)

I can't open up certain files cuz of that (drwatson/ internet explorer) error pop-up problem. I've already followed all the instructions in the first sticky note. (the adaware / cwshredder/ spybot search and destroy scan...)

So here is my Hijackthis log,
Thanx!

Welcome to Geeks to Go! :tazz:

You may wish to print out a copy of these instructions to follow while you complete this procedure.

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {00D6A7E7-4A97-456f-848A-3B75BF7554D7} - (no file)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SearchUpgrader] C:\Program Files\Common files\SearchUpgrader\SearchUpgrader.exe
O14 - IERESET.INF: START_PAGE_URL=http://www
O16 - DPF: {1D6711C8-7154-40BB-8380-3DEA45B69CBF} (Web P2P Installer) -

Please reboot into safe mode (continually tap the F8 key while your system is starting, select Safe Mode from the menu).

Be sure you're able to view hidden files, and remove the following files/folders (if found):

C:\Program Files\Common files\SearchUpgrader <- this folder

Reboot your PC.

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log in this same topic, and let us know how your system's working. ;)

Hi!

Thanx so much for reading it over and giving me a reply =)

unfortunately, I'm still having the same probs! grrrr
I still can't open up those files without explorer popping up saying there’s an error.
I think I should also add that there’s this really annoying windows update icon thing that wont go away. It keeps telling me that new updates are available, even if I already installed it - 10x.

Anyways here is my hijackthis log again,

Thanx for your help!

You are running an out-of-date version of HijackThis; can you please download a new copy (there is a link in my signature), unzip it, and replace your existing copy with the new version.

Press Control-Alt-Del to enter the Task Manager.

Click on the Processes tab and end the following processes:

C:\Program Files\Messenger Plus! 3\MsgPlus.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\P2P Networking\P2P Networking.exe

Exit the Task Manager when finished.

Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following, making sure you get them all and not any others by mistake:

O2 - BHO: PCTools Site Guard - {5C8B2A36-3DB1-42A4-A3CB-D426709BBFEB} - C:\PROGRA~1\SPYWAR~1\tools\iesdsg.dll (file missing)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MessengerPlus3] "C:\Program Files\Messenger Plus! 3\MsgPlus.exe"
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [P2P Networking] C:\WINDOWS\system32\P2P Networking\P2P Networking.exe /AUTOSTART
O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\OSA9.EXE<<resource hog

O9 - Extra button: Shaw Help - {1D495E40-74C0-4C59-89FF-CD5295058962} - http://support.shaw.home.com (file missing) (HKCU)

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Please reboot into safe mode (continually tap the F8 key while your system is starting, select Safe Mode from the menu).
Be sure you're able to view hidden files, and remove the following files in bold (if found):

C:\Program Files\Messenger Plus! 3<<entire folder

Please delete your temporary files. Double Click My Computer (WinXP: Navigate to Start --->My Computer)
You will see an icon representing your harddrive (most likely C: Drive) Right Click on the hard drive icon and click Properties at the
bottom of the fly out window. One the very first tab (General) you will see a button labeled "Disk Cleanup"...click that button.
Make sure the following are checked:
Downloaded Program Files
Temporary Internet Files and
Recycle Bin

Click OK and Disk Cleanup will delete those files for you.

Post back a fresh HijackThis log and we will take another look. :tazz:
