hello all,
I have bought a OEM of win xp pro.
I installed it on an old pc I had.

A couple of things:
- It could not install some files properly during the installation process -I had to skip them-.
- Once everything seemed setup and I was going to bootup for the first time, Error messages came up saying : "windows did not start successfully, a recent hardware or software change might have caused this...."

what is going on ???
what do I have to do???

Click start then run then type sfc /scannow this will start a check of the system files, you get a blue bar then it just goes when done, click start then run then type chkdsk /f then type Y to load next boot, reboot, it takes a while. See how it goes, if you still get the errors, format the drive and re-install before you get too far in to it
