Hi people,

How do I tell the difference between an MPEG1 and an MPEG2 file? (they both have the .mpg extension)

Thanks

MPEG1: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MPEG-1

MPEG2: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MPEG-2

where did the file come from? you might be able to figure it out that way. eg. DVD-MPEG2, VCD-MPEG1

I downloaded it as a music video, there's no information whatsoever that can tell me if it's 1 or 2. WM and RealPlayer plays it fine, but not WinAmp or QuickTime.
