Ask e-machines if it has a recovery partition, if yes, what it is capable of, some will only restore the PC to day one with XP only, some will restore it to XP with programmes, some will have a non destructive recovery option

They may also have a set of recovery CD's, though weigh the cost against 75 USD for an XP CD
