I have an old hard drive that I can not install in my new computer because of the type of plugs in the new computer. Is there some device that I can plug my old hard drive into and run a ubs cord to the new computer to read and retrieve files?

If the old drive is a EIDE drive, you can get an external USB case to put it in. If your new machine does not have any IDE channels, you can also get a cheap card to install in the machine, if you wanted to, but an external USB case tends to work well.
