The problem with BT customers with the last option is that BT supply a modem which is powered by USB and the internet is fed through the USB to the computer so you would have to buy a new Modem that has Ethernet Port.

The voyager model BT are currently supplying has both usb and ethernet.

Hi all!
I've been having the problem with the 205 disconnecting me approximately every 5 minutes or so for the past 3 weeks. today I got on the phone to BT, they were determined to make me believe that it was not a problem with the router, they said it was probably a problem with the line. In the end though I got them to send me a new voyager 205 (which will probably break in another 6 months). It was great to hear them say "Yeh, it probably is a probelm with the router." and admitting it was their fault.

i also had the second one sent out to me but like the first there was no difference,
what i did in the end was change my ISP no NTL and touch wood i have had no probs at all woo hoo.

Hello

I am having the same trouble the crappie Voyager 205 that you all have… :)

I have read all the posts on this thread...

I have read the Hacking and port forwarding and done as much as I can to help…

I think I have stopped it cutting out… :woot:

My main problem is that still persists is when using Bitlord (a bittorrent client)
Some times it runs great a 100 to 200 kbs but most of the time it at under 10 kbs… :tazz:

Can any one help with this?

Thanks
SASLT :)

Wow, just to let everyone no, i got rid of the 205, and got meself a big fat CISCO home networking system installed.

Solution, buy new router.

Oh and i think this should be stickied, to help clean forums, and inform people

We cant help with P2P read our ToS and its illegal. Ive said the same thing in every 205 thread on here as many times, buying a new router has yet to not fix the problem, and its not like they are expensive to get a half decent router to replace the 205. And come one the 205 is free alot of the newer ISPs dont give you routers or make you pay for them BT gives you it for free and its crap but it cost nothing so what do you expect.

I have a 205 adsl router and iv tried to connect my xbox directly to the router via ethernet but nothing happens i try to connect to xbox live but it doesnt work it says to check all cables, also the ethernetlight on the router does not light up.
i tried to go around this by connecting the ethernet cable to my pc i enabled network sharing but i just kept losing my internet connection on my computer and once again i could not connect to xbox live, do you have suggestions please :whistling: ty
