Programs not connecting to internet

After my last virus outbreak I kinda went bananas deleting with hijack this - now certain programs won't connect to the internet. Example: I tried to update Spyware Blaster and when I click on the link, nothing happens. Is there an easy fix here?

Use add / remove to uninstall spywareblaster, run disc clean up

Download and install spywareblaster
