I hope that someone can help with a problem I am having with my IE start page constantly going to an advertisers page. I have changed the default page under IE properties to no avail. Spyware software identified over 80 suspect files and I have downloaded the log from hijackthis. If anyone can tell me which of these entries that Hijackthis can correct to eliminate the problems please reply. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hi djohnson

Welcome to geekstogo ;)

Please read through the instructions before you start (you may want to print this out).

Please set your system to show all files; Click here for how to do this if you're unsure.

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items.[/b]

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.hotoffers.info/184/
R3 - URLSearchHook: transURL Class - {C7EDAB2E-D7F9-11D8-BA48-C79B0C409D70} - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\SEARCH~1.DLL

Click on {redFix Checked} and exit HijackThis.

Reboot into Safe Mode: see here if you don't know how to do this.

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and delete them. {redIf found}

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\SEARCH~1.DLL<--Delete this file
C:\Program Files\eBlocs\SpyBlocs\GLF7295.exe<--Delete this folder
C:\WINDOWS\web\related.htm<--Delete this folder
C:\PROGRA~1\ADVANC~1/toolbar.dll<--Delete this file

Exit Explorer, and reboot as normal afterwards.

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log in this same topic, and let us know how your system's working. :thumbsup:
