I want to remove an account and password for windows messenger so it -can't- sign-in automatically.

So in Control Panel, 'Manage my Network Passwords', I tried to remove the Passport.Net\* (Passport) entry, but nothing happened. When I press 'add', then a new screen opens to fill in a name, but when I press 'remove' nothing happens. For other accounts, it is the same. Why is this?

I tried all these:

Control keymgr.dll
Control Userpasswords2
Control Panel, User Account, Manage network passwords

and I couldn't remove any account. Nothing happens when pressing remove.

In the section ' Change .NET passport ' , the account I want to remove is set.

I just don't want windows messenger to logon to that account automaticaly.
When clicking on the messenger icon, it starts automaticaly from that account. I don't want that. I want the account from windows messenger removed, so that when I start windows messenger, it will not automaticaly start from that account. I would like to type in account and password when I start windows messenger.

You could also uninstall Windows Messenger and re-install it.

This is how you uninstall it.

Start -> Run ->
RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\inf\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

Just copy/paste that, don't take risk to make typo's.

This is how you re-install it:

Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Software -> add/remove windows parts -> click Windows Messenger.

Note: You need the WinXP cd for this.

The account is removed with the uninstall.

But you can also go into the registry if you want to play it that way.

Start -> Run -> Regedit

Simply delete the following Registry Key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\MSMSGS

This will prevent it from auto-start.
Your welcome.
