Another late joiner, but now we are 1 member away from 50.
I used to have this program installed on my old computer and totally forgot it was still around until I read this thread. I just installed it on my laptop and joined the GTG team!! I will add it my computer at my repair shop, which runs just about 24/7.

what does the program do?? will it put anything on my computer?
Hey Voa,
It only installs the program it needs to be able to run - it doesn't install any nasties. You can read more about it on the www.grid.org forums. Basically what it does is it downloads raw research to your computer and then your computer and the program help analyis the data then it sends it back to UD. It is a good way to help the research of diseases etc.
~Matt :-)
P.S. I joined ages ago it's just that I havn't gotten around to posting in this thread until now

On the grid.org website, they list several of these new projects that have been started. I personally downloaded the software for the Compute Against Cancer project. I would encourage the rest of you to pick one of those projects and support it too.BREAKING NEWS: GRID.ORG MISSION COMPLETE
On Friday, April 27, 2007, Grid.org announced it has completed its mission to demonstrate the viability and benefits of large-scale Internet-based grid computing, and will be retiring its famous efforts to support critical health research.
Grid.org was the largest and most ambitious public interest grid venture ever attempted, and thanks to Grid.org and its millions of members, dozens of similar global grid projects have been able to catch on and succeed by following its footsteps.

Edit:
As of April 2007, Grid.org managed 3,732,696 global devices, with 1,340,913 registered members who contributed 210 years of CPU time daily

Thank you to all our members!
The excellent work Grid.org has done, both in contributing massive compute power to critical health research and in establishing this Internet-based model as beneficial, would not have been possible without the faith, efforts, and support of our millions of members worldwide. Thank you so much for your years of ongoing support!
Please support other volunteer grid projects
We encourage member to take your valuable resources to other projects of this kind that are ready and willing to accept you as new members.
