I ran the sfc /scannow but it didn't indicate any problems - I'm not sure what it's supposed to show, if anything.
As I said in a previous post when I disabled Trend Micro Real-Time Service using MSCONFIG that enabled the CD and DVD drive to recognize any CD or DVD inserted.
I sent a note to Trend Micro but haven't received a response yet.
Any thoughts?

Does the Trend bit monitor for spyware or is it for checking for updates

That's what I'm trying to find out from Trend Micro.
There were two other entries along with the one disabled that I left enabled as they didn't affect the operation of the drives, they were:
Trend Micro Personal Firewall and Trend Micro Proxy Service

Is the anti virus from a different manufacturer and you have checked the firewall is on
Scroll down and click proceed, then click all service ports

I ran the test of my TCP ports and passed with no problems.
I received an answer from Trend Micro and was able to fix the problem by making a change in the 'Real-Time Scan' tab of their panel for System options by ignoring the CD and DVD drives. Obviously that's what I was doing when I disabled the Trend Micro Real-Time Service using MSCONFIG but then I was not scanning any files or folders either. With this change I was just not scanning the drives.
Thanks again for your help.
