;) I have searched the forums and can't find a solution. all of the sudden I cant play any of my games except what came with the pc. I would play on the msn gaming zone and I have a lot of games on an "egames" disc that I could play but now I keep getting this stinking error that says Pcustom caption, signature error. when I look at the report it says something about gbrowser.exe and mshtml.dll. Then you have to choose to send or not send report. The game screen clears off. Im somewhat computer handy but I cant for the life of me figure this out. anyone? anyone? :tazz: thanks roxxy

Roxxy,

Any further on this? My brother in law has just reported a similar sounding issue to me. Have you been able to find out more?

:tazz: yep, after being on line with microsoft for 2 hours and finally giving up. I ran some virus softwear and deleted cookies. I can;t remember what all else but I can play any game now except on msn. I still don't know why.

have either of you installed a) pop up blockers b) firewalls c) ad filters, or any kind of software designed to "protect you from the nasty stuff on the Interenet?

Yes.

I built the system I'm talking about and stuck all of the above on when it was built. I also disabled access to the internet for the kid's account when the system was set up. The only things I'm regularly using now that I wasn't using then are Firefox/Thunderbird, and Microsoft's Anti-Spyware, but a full version of AdAware Pro should cover that attack vector reasonably well.

(I've been a IT Pro for 10 years, specialising in Software Engineering, but with significant real world experience in Systems, Network and Data administration as well. Personally, I've haven't had an infestation since I switched from IE to Firefox and got hidden behind an ADSL router with a firewall in place.)
