ok i did that but there has been no change. Now when i open itunes it says

Warning!
The registry settings used by the itunes drivers for importing and burning CD's and DVD's are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall itunes.


but i havn't installed any burning software that i know of?

Good point, can you check with iTunes support on the difference between re-install and restore

ok, ive reinstalled itunes and now that warning doesn't come up, but still no change with the disk drive. :whistling:
