hi i want to upgrade to another HDD for other O/S maybe Linux or the new windows or maybe just storage, do i need to get the same sata drive or can i get another :S

You can get a different hard drive, but usually HDDs of the same brand name (Seagate in your case) work best together.

cheers ive heard someone mention striping that makes writeing to the drives faster or something :S

do you know of any guide to installing another sata drive

Yes, you could install them in RAID, but you would have to reinstall Windows.

Seagate has an installation guide here, but they have model-specific ones, so you may get another model.

i think just chuckin another HDD in and not doin anything fancy is the easy way to do things
