i get a popup from Messenger Service about every minute and a half or so, saying STOP! WINDOWS REQUIRES IMMEDIATE ATTENTION. it asks my to download a registry update from www.regfixit.com (among numerous others, like www.myregfix.com and www.regwinrepair.com and www.fix-ms.com ). these popups began immediately after getting my internet hooked-up about a month ago. i went to one of the websites it asks me to and registered for the "free" system scan etc. and found out that it would cost 35-40 dollars to actually "fix" my system---it also said that as soon as i pay and do so i'll stop receiving the pop-ups. needless to say, i did not pay or proceed. what is going on? can anyone help? also, the space on my harddrive is dwidling---i don't know if it is related, but i have been deleting and deleting things and still get a message that i have only a small amount (not enough for system reliability) of space left. help, please...
