My question is, if I try Vista and it's not working for me, can I re-install XP? I have heard that you can't, even with a format but that doesn't make sense at all to me.

if you do a FULL format (either by using the format utility on the xpdisk, or by using fdisk from a 98 boot disk, or my prefered method of using DBAN ) then you will have no problems...the issues come in when you're trying to do a dual boot with vista and xp...that process becomes a little more involved..but it's still doable...

so in short...if you're wanting to wipe the hd...install vista BY itself...then try vista...then you should have no issues...

Thanks, that answers the question. If anything, I'd format/wipe vista and re-install xp if vista doesnt work out. :whistling:
