My computer has become infected with SysProtect. At the same time I got the malware, my computer began running very slowly and frequently freezing up. The task manager says that my CPU is always running at 100% -- using its total capacity. I also have gotten $sys$DRMServer.exe on my computer somehow, which seems to be eating about 28-32% of the CPU operation. I don't, however, have any of the Sony programs or music that is associated with $sys$DRMServer.exe.

My questions are:
1. How can I get rid of SysProtect?
2. Is it just annoying pop-ups or is it responsible for my computer running slowly and at the max?
3. Is $sys$DRMServer.exe somehow tied in to the other problem?
4. How can I get rid of $sys$DRMServer.exe?

Thanks for any help you can give me!

Please follow the procedures outlined here: Malware Removal Guide

You will need a PC which can connect to the internet

Run all the programmes as advised then post a current Hijack This Log in a new topic in the Malware Forum

For the purpose of accurate malware analysis, Hijack This Logs are only dealt with in the Malware Forum. Posting them anywhere else will result in a delayed response

If you are unable to run any of the programmes, please ask for advice in the Malware Forum
