Hi there,

When I start up my laptop it seems too take a long time to get me to the desktop.
Some one told me that there are to many processes running on my laptop.
I press alt-ctrl-del and the windows task manager comes up with 66 processes (on my desk top computer I only have 30 processes).
I have tried to fine out what each processes is so as to try and fix the problem, but I'm not sure which ones are important and which ones are not.

How can I post my windows task manager so that you can see what I've got?
What can I do to reduce the number of processes? if thats the problem I'm having with the slow start up.

Thanks
Paul

if you ATTACH a hijackthis log, we can see what is runnign at startup and perhaps see if something amiss

but please ATTACH, do not post

you have nothing dangerous, but you do have a lot loading...

as a test

Step 1

Start > Run, type
msconfig
<enter>

On the general tab, select SELECTIVE START UP then uncheck
load startup items

reboot...does it make a big difference?

It makes a difference.
The computer did load up faster, but I also saw that quite a few things didn't load up, my firewall, antivirus etc.
Is that right?

what I need to know now is was it sufficiently fast enough?

What I am trying to get at is whether or not the problem is too many things loading, or is it something else.
