Windows MCE 2004 Problem

Hello all,
This is probley a stupid question that im pritty sure will not work but I was wondering if I can repair a copy of windows media centre 2004 with a windows XP pro sp1 or sp2 cd.

Id like to thank everyone who took time to read my question :whistling: Thanks all

nope...you can't repair an install of xp sp1 with an xp sp2 cd either...it has to be the same version that was originally installed to do the repair

Hay thanks for reply

The problem im getting is c0000135 gdi32.dll missing

I tryed recovery console but the blank admin password is saying incorrecy
Is there a way to fix this problem by putting the HDD into another computer?

Also with recovery console does net user administrator * reset the password in there aswell as on the user account?

Thanks again! I tryed googling this problem but cant find anything that will work without customers original disks bye!

you could drop it in another machine, run a
chkdsk /r first

then if that fails copy gdi32.dll from a known good PC to the other PC's drive in c:\windows\system32

that will not reset the admin password

Hmm nothing really worked to replace the files so I stuck the windows xp pro disk in anyways which asked if i wanted to do a repair in the usual manner but thanks for help now i have a problem with lsass.exe

Hi sorry had a break over weekend the problem was solved by deleting a few winstock2 reg keys then the f-secure worked customer happy Thanks for your time much apriciated (sorry asbout my spellin)
