I am working with Outlook 2000. My boss has tasked me with creating a
mailing list that allows the recipients to opt out at any time. The
information (names, emails, etc) of the clients we want to put on the
mailing list are in contacts in Outlook. I know that Outlook is
incapapble of creating a large mailing list with the options that I am
looking for...but I'm not sure what to do next. Also, a seperate
department wants me to make a mailing list using the same clients, but
one that is for hard copys. In a perfect world, there would be a way to
tell Outlook to pull the addresses out of the contact information and
transfer them automatically to a letterhead that could be printed and
sent. I don't know if this is possible though. Any and all help would
be greatly appreciated.

well the kicker is the opt out. you need server side tools to manage email lists to best accomplish this. It is possible that you might be able to wright a macro to do it... but if there is any volume you will run into issues.

do you host your own email (exchange) or are you using pop mail from a third party internet provider?

you might consider something like this: http://www.microsoft...der/detail.mspx

bottom line is your not going to get outlook to handle things like you want. You have to have server side involvement to automate the process.
