I run Windows ME on my compaq presario.(5 years old). For about the last week my computer will not install Mcafee updates or windows updates. I uninstalled Mcafee and my computer now runs a lot faster but it will still not install windows updates. It downloads the files and then about half way through installing them it freezes and says "not responding". My hard drive is only about half full. I do not download music or have any games on the computer. What could be the problem?

Here is a MicroSoft article that may help. They recommend you clear your cookies, files, and history. Also try Start> Run> cmd> ipconfig /flushdns (Do not forget the space after ipconfig or it will not work).
