if i let my screensaver come up or the monitor turn off i have little to no chance of reading the screen ever again. even if i don't, the screen eventually degenerates into unintelligible pixels/stripes and i'm forced to shut down. My Symantec has been totally incapacitated.

I have no Log to post because I can't get through the initial instructions, and as of right now the machine is totally unresponsive - I can't even shut it down with the power button. I could take the battery off but I don't know if that's wise - please help me.
