I recently replaced the motherboard on my emachine t1842 with an exact emachine replacement.
I am having problems re-installing windows. WHen I try the setup... the "installing windows" on the initial blue screen (at the bottom) just hangs there and does not progress.
I have also tried using the emachine disks that came with the machine to provide a exact copy of the original system. with this the windows bootup hangs with the bars going across and just stops. My computer consultant thinks it may have been a problem with the new motherboard and the way I installed it. ANy thoughts. Many thanks

what caused you to replace the motherboard...what symptoms arose that made you think this was needed? Did anything happen before the old motherboard went?

Original MB completely died with failure to even turn on. Replacement appears to be working except cannot boot into windows or re-install it. I have also tried multiple installation disks and different hard drives.
Thanks

dirty cd, dirty cd-rom?

Bad replacement motherboard?

There does not seem to be any reason it will not work,

Remove all but the most necssary hardware--remove any add-on cards or additional devices (printer, joysticks, etc)
