Hi,
I have tried everything that was recommended by the "Please see this before posting" sticky post on this forum, and nothing has helped. Basically, there is definately somehting on my computer, but I just cant figure out how to get it off. Firstly, there are a constant stream of popups that are getting blocked by the Internet Explorer popup stopper. Along with there popups are popunder prompts constantly asking me if I want to "go to another casino" or "try for more mortgage rates," etc. Also, when I go to my internet history, there are about 200 sites which I know I haven't visited which show up. And, along with the popunder ads are also Windows Explorer prompts which ask me if I am comfortable sending "personal information into a secure and unsecure site," which really scares me. Between these problems, as well as the constant "audio-only" commercials which phantomly run in the background, I am legitamately scared that I have lost some important info as well as need to junk my brand new computer.

My HijackThis log file is as follows. Any help by anyone would be great as to what I can do to get rid of this isht on my computer.

Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1

Dear chungsotheby, :whistling:

Welcome to the Geeks to Go forums.

We are currently studying your log. :blink:
*************************************

I would like to see if your computer is set up to start in "normal" startup or "selective" startup. I would like you to put your computer into "normal" startup, if it is not selected already, so as to better analyze your HijackThis log. You can change it back to selective startup later, once your computer system is spyware free.

Go to start -> run -> type "msconfig" (without the quotes), the System Configuration Utility dialog box should pop up, go to the "General tab" and select "normal startup" and then press the "OK" button and let it restart your computer.
************************

Since HijackThis makes backups of any entries you fix, you should create a folder just to hold the HijackThis program and its backups, so the backups and the program are not accidentally deleted. Go to "My Computer", click on c:\ and then go to the "File" menu, choose New -> Folder. Name the folder "HJT" or "HijackThis" and then please move the "HijackThis.exe" executable there.

Please restart your computer and then post a new HijackThis log. :help:

Dear chungsotheby, :whistling:

(Note: Please read through these instructions a couple of times before executing the steps in this post.)

You may want to print out these instructions or save them as a text file with "Notepad" to your desktop.
******************************

Dear chungsotheby, did you even bother to read my first post to you?
****************************

O4 - Global Startup: EMBASSY Trust Suite Secure Update.lnk = C:\Program Files\Wave Systems Corp\Services Manager\Secure Update\AutoUpdate.exe

Can you tell me in detail, if you recognize the software in the above HijackThis line and can you tell me what it is used for in your computer?

Does the above software relate to some kind of security device or fingerprint reader (explain in detail)?

See the following link as a reference: http://www.wavesys.com/

(Note: The file "biolsp.dll" is related to the above software. The O10 lines in your HijackThis log are legitimate.)
************************************

Click Start then Control Panel then Add and Remove Programs. Look for the following installed program/programs and if they are listed click on each one and then click on the Remove or Change button and if asked select "Yes" or "Ok" to remove:

Optional programs you can uninstall, through the Add/Remove program:

eDonkey2000 is a peer to peer application for sharing files over the Internet. The free version of this application should be avoided as it installs, without permission, New.Net, Webhancer, WebSearch Toolbar, and WinTools.

Uninstall the following program/programs through Add/Remove programs (if they exist):

eDonkey2000

See the following link: http://p2p.malwareremoval.com/.

Restart your computer.
***************************

Run HijackThis and click "Scan." Place checks next to the following entry/entries (if they exist):

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = HTTP://WWW.NYTIMES.COM/

Optional Fixes

I highly recommend you to fix this item:

If you choose to remove eDonkey2000, put a check next to the following entry as well:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [eDonkey2000] "C:\Program Files\eDonkey2000\eDonkey2000.exe" -t

Close all browser and other windows except for HijackThis, and click "Fix Checked" button to finish the repair. Close the HijackThis application.

Next, make sure your PC is configured to show hidden files. Here is how to do this:

Windows XP

* Click "Start".
* Open "My Computer".
* Select the "Tools" menu and click "Folder Options".
* Select the "View" Tab.
* Under the "Hidden files and folders" heading select "Show hidden files and folders".
