I usually avoid windows like the plague because of all the problems I've had with it in the past, but at my new job I don't really have a choice.

We have a laptop that keeps getting this error: instruction 0x7c911629 referenced memory at 0x00080157 memory could not be written.

After you click cancel, the computer seems to work fine, if a little bit slow. I couldn't even find anything about this particular error... and I don't have much access to the computer because my boss takes it with him.

He's running XP home, Norton antivirus is up to date and finding a file that it can't delete. The filename comes up as a blank in the report, so I don't know how to deal with that.

Sorry to be so unspecific, but all I have to go by is the error written on a piece of paper. I have an old version of spy sweeper that I'll install to see if it'll do anything, but I don't have access to the computer until monday.

TIA!

I suggest visiting the malware section first and following the instructions on how to post your HIjackThis logfile. Good luck to you. :whistling:

when you get access to the computer...make sure you write down the WHOLE error...that's not quite the full error
