Can't activate windows firewall

I use Windows XP Media Center Edition, and my Windows Firewall is set on the Off option, and won't let me change it to On (the buttons are faded and inactive). Any idea as to how I can turn my firewall on?

do you have any other firewalls installed (like sygate, kerio, or any of the others?)

No I never installed any other firewalls.
