It seems that my xp firewall will not let netscape/walmartconnect stay on for more that 5 minutes. i have gone into the firewall and allowed the ISP website but the computer still shuts down the internet if it is hooked up for more than about five -ten minutes. if i turn off the XP firewall this does not happen. internet runs fine. Any suggestions? I feel exposed with the firewall turned off.

You could try disabling XP's firewall and downloading a free firewall such as ZoneAlarm which is better than XP's anyway and see if that makes a difference. http://www.zonelabs.....jsp?lid=nav_za

yes zone alarm is a good product and is suggested though out this forum as well as many others. However just curious, do you have more then one firewall on your computer running at one time? More then one anti virus?

right now there is no firewall as XP firewall kicks me out every fifteen minutes if i am on the internet. iam running Kapersky anitvirus. do you know if that is a good product or should i be using something else?
