I would like to remove some tooltips:

I would like to remove tooltips that don't give extra info.

-the tooltip in the taskbar for minimized pages.
-the tooltip for window options, such as 'maximize' and 'close'

this is for windows explorer and internet explorer.

hi, okeee i hope this is what you are looking for, click on start,
then control panel, then folder options, then view,
then untick (show pop-up description for folder and desktop items)
then hit apply then ok. that should do it.

yes, I already did that, but that is for items on the desktop only. So the other tooltips are not removed.

I could only find one that disables these,

These reg files allow you to disable only the Balloon Tips or Disable All. Disable All includes: Balloon Tips, Folder Contents Info Tips, Explorer Pop-Ups and Show Info Tips.

What are all those tooltips? Won't they disable more than I would like?

I also would like to remove tooltip in the taskbar for minimized pages. I don't know how to describe it well, but when a site is minimized on taskbar, a tooltip shows with info about the site.

You might be interested in using Microsoft's Power Toys like TweakUI. Please be aware of the "Note" on this page. You might find what you are looking for, but I suggest getting some additional advice from an experience Power Toy user as you can severly screw up your PC. I would definitely make sure all my important files are backed up on external medium, that a good Restore Point is made before even installing Power Toys (good thing to do prior to any new install) and definitely making a backup copy of the Registry.

Ron

EDIT: I should have mentioned that there are some tweaks in this forum where you may find what you want:

Easy XP Tweaks Second Edition

Is it possible to disable desktop tooltips only, so without disabling window folder tooltips?
disable balloon tooltips, does that mean all tooltips will be disabled, win explorer as well as internet explorer?
