Windows Media Problems

Okay, I have two problems with Windows Media Player.

The first is whenever a Java Applet loads up, windows media can't play the video. Only the audio plays.

The second is whenever I try to view a Web 2.0 video-on-demand program (Think MTV Overdrive or Comedy Central Motherload) the audio plays, but no video shows.

What can I do to fix this problem?
