I have a Gateway laptop that just keeps rebooting and does nothing else. I have used Gateway's Restore DVD to restore Windos XP, but it still just reboots and nothing else. I need someone's help that is familiar with Gateway computers, because I have tried other solutions in the forums, but I don't have a Windows XP disk, just the System Restore DVD, which the Gateway people told me is all I need.

I have come across this message when I tried to boot at my last good configuration:

Windows could not start because of the following file is missing or corrupt:
\WINDOWS\system32\config\SYSTEM
