Hi jaxparrothead

Welcome to the forums! ;)

Please set your system to show all files; please see here if you're unsure how to do this.

Press Control-Alt-Del to enter the Task Manager.
Click on the Processes tab and end the following processes:
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\w?aclt.exe

Exit the Task Manager when finished.

Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following, making sure you get them all and not any others by mistake:
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant =

C:\Program Files\AWS\WeatherBug\Weather.exe 1
C:\Documents and Settings\Parses\Application Data\eetu.exe

Exit Explorer, and reboot as normal afterwards.

Please run the following free, online virus scans.
http://www.pandasoft...n_principal.htm
http://housecall.tre.../start_corp.asp

Please post the logs From both virus scans and HJT.log we will need them to remove previous infections that have left files on your system.

I could not find w?aclt.exe in either task manager or windows explorer. I did find two processes called "wault.exe" running in task manager, and I also found "wyact.exe-1033cc84.pf". it was found using a search in windows explorer at "c:/windows/prefetch. I did not delete either of these because the wording was different from what you told me to delete. Should I go back and delete these?

Also, I deleted all of the Weatherbug items like you said to. How much of a threat are they? I have had weatherbug installed on this and other machines for about 2 years now and have had no problems. I live in N Florida, and last year weatherbug gave us vital information faster than any other source, including weather radio and local media. In fact, during one of the hurricanes, weatherbug started chirping and informed us of an approaching tornado. we had less than a minute to enter our safe room before the tornado skipped over our house. it touchdowned about one block on both sides of us. we had no other warning that a tornado was on the ground and heading our way except for weatherbug. Not trying to argue with you here, your the expert and I will do what I need to do to fix my computer. Just asking for your thoughts on how much of a threat weatherbug is.

Thanx for your help. Sorry about the delay in responding to you, but we had bad weather move through here last nite. I do appreciate all of the time you are giving us to help.

Hi jaxparrothead

When we have cleaned out your system you can reinstall Weatherbug

Please read through the instructions before you start (you may want to print this out).

Please set your system to show all files; please see here if you're unsure how to do this.

Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following, making sure you get them all and not any others by mistake:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {256C96CC-0855-2FA8-7D87-27879FF6B99F} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\gux.dll (file missing)
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Unvri] C:\WINDOWS\system32\w?aclt.exe
O4 - Startup: PowerReg Scheduler.exe

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Download CW-Shredder at the link below:
CWShredder
Run CW-Shredder - Hit the FIX button - let it run and fix what it finds

Reboot into Safe Mode: please see here if you are not sure how to do this.

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and delete them:If Found

C:\WINDOWS\system32\gux.dll<--Delete this file
C:\Program Files\eSyndicate<--Delete the whole folder
C:\Program Files\Support.com\backup\Ne\newdotnet6_38.dll\229376_51a9f736b_newdotnet6_38.dll<--Delete the whole folder
C:\Program Files\MySearch<--Delete the whole folder
C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\WildApp.inf<--Delete the whole folder

Exit Explorer,

Download Pocket Killbox and unzip it; save it to your Desktop.
Run it, and click the radio button that says Delete a file on reboot.
Paste them one at a time into the full path of file to delete box and click the red circle with a white cross in it.
The program will ask you if you want to reboot; say No each time until the last one has been pasted in whereupon you should answer Yes.
Let the system reboot.
C:\WINDOWS\system32\gux.dll
C:\WINDOWS\NDNuninstall*.exe
C:\Documents and Settings\Parses\Application Data\tvm*.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\rk.exe
C:\Program Files\eSyndicate
C:\RECYCLER\S-1-5-21-2139295165-3283796943-1858953008-500\Dc6.exe
C:\WINDOWS\NDNuninstall6_38.exe
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\Cpe11W.exe
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\WACLT~1.EXE

Post back a fresh HijackThis log and we will take another look.

Hi jaxparrothead

Download Winpatrol Free

Download the ccleaner
I use this Program and is setup like this all boxs are checked.
Now run the ccleaner

Clear out all your cookies in the cookie folder.

Clean out all temp files in Mozilla, Internet Explorer.
Internet Explorer: Tools/ Internet Options/ General/ Temporary internet files/ Delete Files (NOTE, that this may take very long!). You can also set the memory limit to about 80 MB at the Settings.

Mozilla: Edit/ Options/ Extended/ Cache/ Clear Cache

ActiveX Controls could do with a big cleanup. Open your browser and go to Tools > Internet Options and click on the General Tab. Click on Settings (next to Temporary Internet Files) and then click on View Objects. Rightclick on each and choose Properties. If there is anything there that you dont know what it is (microsoft, apple, macromedia etc are OK) or where it came from, delete it. If there are any damaged controls there, delete those also. If any are needed, you will be prompted to download them again anyway.

Turn of system restore
Disabling or enabling Windows XP System Restore

Defrag your hard drive turn system restore back on and create a new restore point.

Please run the following free, online virus scans.

http://housecall.tre.../start_corp.asp
http://www.pandasoft...n_principal.htm

Please post the logs From both virus scans and HJT.log we will need them to remove previous infections that have left files on your system.

sorry i have not been able to complete the instructions you gave me yesterday, we have been under some heavy rain and thunderstorms since yesterday, and the storms will continue for another day or so. because of this, i am not comfortable with keeping our PC on for the time that it takes to run the scans and such.

i do appreciate you help, and did not want you to think that i was ingoring you.

i have installed several malware products since these virus' have infected my puter, and was wondering if you could tell me which products i should use to keep things running and which products are not necessary. I have installed and am running these programs:

Mcafee Virus Scan
Mcafee Firewall

Once the storms move through I will do the things that you instructed in your last post, remove any programs you think are unnecessary, refrag, and send you the logs.

one other thing did occur this morning. I received several emails from jaxparrothead at several different isp's and domains, such as "jaxparrothead@intelligentservices.com". these accounts are unknown to me. I do use jaxparrothead with bellsouth, aol, and yahoo, plus use the handle everywhere i post things to and such. dont know if this matters or not, just passing it along in case it does.

thanx again

Hi jaxparrothead

Please run the following free, online virus scans.
http://www.pandasoft...n_principal.htm
http://housecall.tre.../start_corp.asp

Please post the logs From both virus scans and HJT.log we will need them to remove previous infections that have left files on your system.
