Hi hows it going I have a question concerning Counter Strike.
When I'm playing in a server my ping stays the same. But when people start to talk on the server my ping may stay the same but my computer or wat ever it is starts to lag alot and it makes it impossible for me to play. If you guys are able to help me that would be wonderful.

Thanks.

Alright, I will require more system specifications please. I am interested in which video card you have, how much RAM you have, and which processor you have. Also, do you have any applications such as instant messaging programs, etc. running while you play?

Alright, do you have any programs running such as AIM, etc. while you play? What is your internet connection speed? (DSL, Cable)

it could be your rates. For your ocmputer your rates should be like this:
cl_cmdrate 100 (how many updates you send out to others)
cl_updaterate 100 (how many updates your recieve from others)
rate 25000

On his machine i don't think any IM programs would slow him down much, MSN uses 30mb of ram, which doesn't affect my 256ram very much. It could also be the server you're playing on, try to find one that is closer to where you live, and of course, check for spyware and viruses.
